Where do I start. This hotel/hostel is literally a step back in time. My husband is a history nerd. When I found this place on goodie I just thought this would be a cool stay to treat my husband to. Little did I know I was in for a treat myself. Our hostess were absolutely WONDERFUL! He explained a little of the history and offered to give us a tour. Seeing how excited my husband was after the tour of the John Dillinger suite they offered us an upgrade! I have never felt safer and more comfortable in any other establishment. Rooms were timeless and elegant. And if your in to a little spooky they have that as well! 100% will be back and will recommend to any one interested in a little time travel.

The location was perfect and the hotel is beautiful. Anyone interested in history this is a must stay. Gable (swing shift desk clerk) is so knowledgeable about the hotel and the history of it and El Paso. The hotel is beautifully restored and all the employees seem to take great pride in it. Discounts are offered at some of the surrounding establishments. My stay was fantastic! El Paso has become one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. and anybody choosing to visit should definitely stay at Gardner! Thanks again so much Stephanie, Gable and all the other staff!

If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay at while passing through El Paso, this is it. The hostel was nice for the value. It was very clean and the staff was nice. I booked a room with 4 beds, but I was the only one there, which was wonderful since I had the entire room for myself. Otherwise, it would’ve been a little too crowded. It’s a dated hotel, but taken care of. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown within walking distance to many bars and restaurants. The trolley (train) also passes by the hotel.

Everything about my stay was great! The staff were all friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The downtown location was convenient and just a quick streetcar ride across downtown to both the Greyhound and Amtrak stations. And the community kitchen and lounge were a huge bonus as I was able to cook food and store leftovers. I loves the history of the building (huge Cormac McCarthy fan) as well and will definitely stay here on all future El Paso trips!

Unique, historic hotel with a great staff! The shared bathroom was immaculate and always available. I particularly liked how there were discounts at nearby bars and restaurants; the owners/management are clearly interested in building community in downtown El Paso. Parking was also very easy as we scored one of the two spots out front even though we arrived late.
